Horrorshow are an Inner West Sydney hip hop duo comprising Solo (Vocals) and Adit (Producer).
Emerging on the scene in 2008 with The Grey Space, an album created during high school, at a time where they linked up with Spit Syndicate and Joyride to form the extended One Day crew. The album was released on Elefant Traks, earning an ARIA nomination and tours with The Herd, Muph & Plutonic and Hermitude – all before the duo turned 21.
Hot on the heels of their debut followed the second album Inside Story in 2009, solidifying their reputation for eloquent lyricism and soulful production, and striking a major chord with a growing legion of fans
Horrorshow have enjoyed an organic rise—they’re not anchored by a passing style or sub-cultural fad, consequently their fanbase is loyal and passionate, selling out shows all over Australia. They’ve sold out every headline show they’ve ever done in Sydney. They’ve blitzed all the major Australian festivals, loved by purist hip hop heads while proving their appeal across genres.
In 2010 they tested the waters internationally, supporting Brother Ali and Urthboy in Germany as well as Hilltop Hoods in London. 2011 saw them cement their place amongst the festival favourites playing to over 50,000 people on the Groovin’ The Moo Festival and Bliss n Eso’s Running on Air Tour. In 2012 they supported Hilltop Hoods for a second time on their Speaking In Tongues Tour performing to massive crowds across Europe and Australia. They rounded out the year by playing a special acoustic show at the world-famous Spielgeltent at Brisbane Festival and collaborated alongside label-mates for the acclaimed Dr Seuss Meets Elefant Traks at Sydney’s Opera House.
Horrorshow premiered new single, Unfair Lottery in May 2013. It was hailed by critics for being “close to an instant classic—thoughtful, soulful, catchy” (Matt Shea, The Vine). The accompanying single launches in Sydney and Melbourne sold-out in under a week. Their much anticipated third album King Amongst Many was released on August 2nd and stormed to #2 on the ARIA Album Chart, #1 on the iTunes album chart. It was the highest placed local release and highest ever debut for Elefant Traks.
The record was featured as ‘album of the week’ on national broadcaster triple j, Sydney’s FBi Radio and Melbourne’s PBS-FM. The album has since been shortlisted for the prestigious Australian Music Prize and nominated for an Aria Award and j award. Horrorshow’s King Amongst Many Tour saw them play to sold-out audiences across the country. They joinined Bliss n Eso on their ‘Circus In The Sky Tour in April 2014 playing to approximately 50,000 people.
Horrorshow will shortly be putting out their first official release under the banner of One Day (the crew that includes Spit Syndicate, Jackie Onassis and Joyride). The album titled Mainline will be out 1 August with a huge national tour to follow in September.
