So many white dudes with dreadlocks...
That sums up Fusion Festival pretty well. Although credit to em, they know how to run a pro-anarchy, anti-fascist mega festival on an abandoned Russian military airfield with 55,000 people and no cops! Security seemed limited to volunteers although I traipsed around the festival for 2 days and didn't see as much as an argument, let alone fisticuffs. Hermitude played a killer set to a packed dirt floor and won a bunch of Germans over.
We left the next day to a shower and some sleep, then got on a plane to London to meet up with Horrorshow.
The venue in London was The Barfly in Camden, a cool little upstairs den that was rammed to capacity on a Monday night. I wandered around the room caught up in the great vibe: the crowd singing along and jumping on cue - it was a sight to see over the other side of the world.
The remainder of the week saw Hermitude get in the studio with some of UK's brightest new talents, from South London female rapper Amplify Dot (just signed a worldwide 5 album deal with EMI) to Takura (collaborator with Chase & Status and many others). The boys are getting a bit of a buzz here at the moment. About time. Didn't see Wimbledon sorry Unkle Ho.
Back to Germany now and Horrorshow start their Germany/Amsterdam run of shows with the Hilltop Hoods.
We're having a great time repping Elefant Traks and Australian music over here. See you on the other side.
