Elefant Traks introduces The Tongue – an uncommonly gifted 21 year old Sydney MC, and his debut EP Bad Education.
In just under two years The Tongue has established himself a reputation for razor-sharp lyrics and split second spontaneity in both freestyle and battle arenas. In an increasingly flooded battle crowd, The Tongue stands shoulders above most, with victories in the NSW Battle4Supremacy 2005, BattleActs and the 7th annual . Over and above this freestyle ability is an uncanny versatility on the microphone, for intelligent, yet imaginative and witty lyrics that display boundless promise. His sheer talent has seen him support acts such as De La Soul, The Decepticonz and The Herd – without a single release out.
Bad Education is an animated blend of boom-bap hip hop with colourful flourishes of electro, peppered with incisive wordplay and metaphors. It is an extremely worthy introduction from an optimistic artist whose lyrics and concepts exceed his age.
Guests include DJ Diaz, Bertie Blackman, Urthboy, The Bagraiders and Fame. The EP was mixed by John Stuart (Hermitude, Def Wish Cast) at Sound Heaven Studios.
The Tongue is also renowned for his theatrical sense of humour; having performed in ‘Wonka: A Live Cinema Remix’ at the 2006 Melbourne Comedy Festival, several TV commericals and The Belvoir Street Theatresports competition.
