‘Feel Something’ is a descriptor to the young, bored teen in the suburbs; throwing parties on the front lawn of your best mates place while their parents are out of town for the weekend, cruising in a borrowed car with more people than seat belts, restless for school to end and life to begin.
Premiering on triple j’s Good Nights on Monday, B Wise’s new single ‘Feel Something’ oozes attitude. Produced by The Husssh (with additional production from long time collaborator DOPAM!NE), the song’s booming production lays the foundation for B Wise to once again showcase his masterful storytelling, articulate in his vision, with a next-level flow that commands attention. Brought to life by Jáen Collective, the accompanying music video recreates this feeling, capturing B Wise and crew in South West Sydney, the area that shaped his formative years.
In his words, B Wise explains, ‘Feel Something is about a sense of community. It’s a story about my youth and figuring out the world, which at the time centred around ‘the area’ – slang for any neighbourhood in the West or South West of Sydney. We were young and reckless, but someone always had your back.’
With this reflection, comes the comparison of then and now, represented by this young artist and the accolades of his career thus far. The nostalgia is met with nothing but fondness however, as B Wise advises his younger self, “Those were the days that I can never trade for nothing, we were young and dumb hustling, always getting into something”
